PRIVACY POLICY

The Data Protection Act 1998 imposes a legal duty on our office to protect any personal information we collect from, or about, you. Our website does not store or capture personal.

To prevent fraud and money laundering we may, where necessary search the files of credit reference agencies who will record any credit searches on your file. This information may be used by other credit agencies in order to make credit decisions about you and the people with whom you are financially associated, again for the purposes of prevention of fraud and money laundering and occasionally tracing debtors.

This personal information will include publicly available information such as your details on the electoral roll, County Court Judgments, Bankruptcy Orders or repossessions.

We operate a money laundering disclosure procedure as required by law. This is to protect all our clients. In certain circumstances we are obliged to disclose information to the appropriate authorities in relation to any suspicion of money laundering. Any credit reference checks outlined above will normally apply where a client is instructing us in an individual capacity, as a partner of a business or as a Senior Officer in a company or other credit provider.

We will only use your information for lawful purposes, and in particular for business purposes. We may contact you by mail, telephone, fax, email or other electronic messaging service with information about legal services or training services which you may wish to avail of. If you do not wish to receive such information from us please contact info@james-f-fitzpatrick.com at any time. You will not be required to take any further action if you have previously indicated to us that you do not wish to receive any such marketing material.

Some of the information we hold will be sensitive personal data. This includes information about health, religion, or the commission or alleged commission of an offence. This information is treated confidentially and your continuing relationship with us demonstrates your consent to this processing. You will only provide this information to Counsel or other third parties who need this information in order for us to provide legal services to yourself. This information will not be transferred to any countries outside the United Kingdom or the Republic of Ireland as required.

Disclosures

We may disclose personal information about you when required to so by law to organisations such as the Law Society of Northern Ireland, PSNI, or other regulatory body. Where this disclosure becomes necessary, we are not obliged to inform you under the Data Protection Act 1998. However, we will only disclose such information that is necessary in the circumstances.
